All rezoning & annexation matters are required to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Commission will review and make a recommendation to the City Council at the next scheduled City Council meeting.

There is a $100 application fee for all rezoning requests.

The request must be accompanied by three (3) copies of a rezoning plat prepared by a registered surveyor.

Special Exception applications must be submitted 15 days prior to the monthly meeting. Rezoning applications must be submitted 7 days prior to the monthly meeting.

The monthly meeting is held the 4^th Tuesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. and the applicant must be present for the meeting.

Special Exceptions are only allowed in an R-2 District.

Planning to annex property into the City of Americus? You are required to submit an application, $100 application fee and 3 copies of an annexation/zoning plat prepared by a registered surveyor to this department. Prior to annexation of your property, the Planning and Zoning Commission must review and recommend zoning to the City Council. The City is required by state law to advertise and hold a public hearing concerning the recommended zoning of your property.
