The Water and Sewer Maintenance Department maintains
approximately 100 miles of water and sewer lines, installs water meters,
and water
and sewer services. The city will also install a separate water meters for
landscape irrigation systems.

Ch2MHill manages the Water/Sewer Distribution Department
privately for the City of Americus. Ch2MHill is responsible
for the treatment and distribution of potable water and the
processing of sanitary sewer for the residents of Americus.

This includes the operation of a 7 million gallon per day
Water Plant and a 4.4 million gallon per day Sewage
Treatment Facility. The average daily consumption for city
residents is 2.5 million gallons per day for water. The
average daily treatment of sewer per day for city residents
is 2.3 million gallons per day.

Ch2MHill is also responsible for ensuring that both
operations meet all state and federal guidelines for
environmental compliance.
