Opening Non-Web Documents

 

The City of Americus uses Adobe PDF format for non-web files and documents. To read PDF files you must install Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher.  You will find the link to download Adobe Reader at the bottom of every page or you can click here.

 

With Adobe Reader you have the option to use the Read Out Loud feature.  To use this feature:

1. Open the document with Adobe Reader

2. Click 'View' on the menu bar

3. Select 'Read Out Loud'

4. Select 'Activate Read Out Loud' OR use the keyboard combination Shift + Ctrl + Y

5. Select 'Read This Page Only' (Or Shift + Ctrl + V) OR 'Read To End of Document' (Or Shift + Ctrl + B)

 

To pause the Read Out Loud feature:

1. Click 'View' on the menu bar

2. Select 'Read Out Loud'

3. Select 'Pause' or use the keyboard combination Shift + Ctrl + C

 

To stop the Read Out Loud feature:

1. Click 'View' on the menu bar

2. Select 'Read Out Loud'

3. Select 'Stop' or use the keyboard combination Shift + Ctrl + E

 

Changing Font Size

 

To increase the screen size of the City of Americus website from any browser, hold the Ctrl key and use the + or - keys to increase or decrease the size of the screen.

 

To increase text size using Inernet Explorer (IE):

1. Click 'View' on the menu bar

2. Select 'Text Size' (you may need to refresh your browser after selecting a new text size)

 

To increase text size using Mozilla Firefox:

1. Click 'View' on the menu bar

2. Select 'Zoom Text Only'

3. Choose 'Zoom In' or 'Zoom Out'
