Lenny's Farmers Market

Lenny’s Farmer’s Market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7am until 1 pm in June, July, and August.  All other months the market is open on Saturdays only from 7am until 1 pm.  Lenny’s Market is located at 110 North Hampton Street in Downtown Americus.  Farm fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, jams, breads, and even fresh cut flowers are plentiful.

S.A.M. Shortline Excursion Train

Come ride the Train! SAM Shortline operates excursion trains on Fridays, Saturdays, and select Mondays and Thursdays of each month. Taste of Sumter

Held annually, the Taste of Sumter is our largest event! Sumter County restaurants and food vendors decorate Jackson Street and showcase their specialty items.  This event is held on the last Thursday of September from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Admission is $5, which includes $3 in tokens. Additional food tokens are .50 each.  Live Entertainment. Food and Fun for the Whole Family!

Downtown Trick or Treat - Kiwanis Pet Parade

The Kiwanis Pet Parade is a favorite for children ages toddler to ten!  The pet parade begins at 4 pm throughout the streets of Downtown Americus.  Immediately following the parade, children dressed in costumes are invited to trick or treat at participating merchants.  This event is held the last Thursday in October.

Christmas Open House

Come kick off the Holiday Season in downtown Americus. Enjoy Holiday refreshments, visit with Santa,  or take a carriage ride through the streets of Downtown Americus.  Holiday Open House is held annually the Thursday before Thanksgiving from 6:00 - 8:30 pm.

Christmas Parade - Downtown

Held in the holiday season with a charming down home parade and welcome Santa to Americus. Held annually the first Thursday in December. Please call the Americus Visitor Center at 229-928-6059 for more information.
