​The City of Americus Natural Gas Department is responsible for providing natural gas service to customers in the immediate Americus area as well as several outlying areas in Sumter County. Americus has approximately 2300 residential, 300 Commercial, & 5 Industrial customers. The gas system can presently deliver pressures up to 150 psi to accommodate the most demanding industrial gas load. The Gas Department is also responsible for maintaining approximately 100 miles of gas mains and services, and over 400 below ground valves. Our goal is to serve the natural gas needs of our customers in the safest, most reliable, and economical manner possible while optimizing load growth and customer satisfaction.
