P & Z also provides administrative support for the Land Bank, reviews business license applications for zoning compliance and directs the Keep Americus Beautiful program.

The Planning Commission (PC) reviews rezoning applications, special exception requests, annexation requests and subdivision preliminary plats and makes recommendations to the City Council.
The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) reviews Variance Requests and Appeals to decisions by the Planning & Zoning Director and Building Official.
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) hears applications for modifications and additions to properties in the city’s Historic District and issues Certificates of Appropriateness for approved requests.
Submittals for all types of request should include:

City Council Meetings:
The City Council Agenda-Setting meeting is the 1st Thursday after the 2nd Monday of the month, at 6:00 PM. The City Council regular meeting is the Thursday after the agenda-setting meeting, at 6:00 PM.
