The Water and Sewer Maintenance Department maintains approximately 100 miles of water and sewer lines,  installs water meters,  and water and sewer services. The city will also install a separate water meter for landscape irrigation systems.

Jacobs manages the Water and Sewer Plants privately for the City of Americus. Jacobs is responsible for the treatment and distribution of potable water and the processing of sanitary sewer for the residents of Americus.  This includes the operation of a 7 million gallon per day Water Plant and a 4.4 million gallon per day Sewage Treatment Facility. The average daily consumption for city residents is 2.5 million gallons per day for water. The average daily treatment of sewer per day for city residents is 2.3 million gallons per day.

Jacobs is also responsible for ensuring that both operations meet all state and federal guidelines for environmental compliance.
