This committee is responsible for matters relating to the operation and maintenance of city owned, streets, sidewalks, street lighting, drainage systems, trees, parks, solid waste collection and disposal, grounds around municipal buildings, water and sewer system lines, water and sewer plants, maintenance shop, and natural gas services.

Chairperson: Juanita F. Wilson

This committee is responsible for matters relating to the operation and maintenance of the police and fire departments. In the fire department this includes fire prevention, building risk management, education and training, and suppression. In the police department this includes field services, support services, criminal investigation, drug suppression team and education and training.

Chairperson: Lou Chase

This committee is responsible for matters relating to the operation and maintenance of the Finance Department and Utility Billing Department. This includes matters such as budget preparation and control, treasury management, safeguarding of assets, and metering and billing for city utility services.

Chairperson: Nelson Brown

This committee will be responsible for matters relating to downtown development, tourism, cultural amenities, retail development and industrial development.  Members of this committee may work with the Chamber of Commerce in matters relating to economic development of the community, including transportation matters.  This committee will also be responsible for revolving loan and grant programs offered by the City to encourage economic development. 

Chairperson: Walton Grant

This Committee is responsible for matters relating to community growth and appearance.  This includes the functions of planning and zoning, housing, code enforcement, historic preservation, annexation, cemeteries and the city transit system.  This committee will also be responsible for community development block grants administration and other programs related to housing.

Chairperson: Carla Cook

This committee is responsible for matters relating to recreation, hospital, library, elections, personnel ordinance administration, franchise agreements, insurance, claims against the city, records retention, purchasing and the city’s geographic information system.
